Daily Post (get it?)

A package with USPS tracking #03100480000139204894 was documented as having been delivered 02/22/2011 with the delivery address being the James Crews Post Office in KCMO. It took several phone calls from myself and the Texas shipper, (as well as an email to Fox4Problemsolvers read aloud to the Post Office supervisor as I sent it), before they admitted on 03/01/2011, "Oh, gee, I guess that wasn't delivered after all." The postal employee required that I come to the post office to get it, based on "carrier safety", although the mail carrier that delivered the Aron's advertised specials and the Pizza Hut coupons to the mailbox at my front gate during these phone calls didn't seem particularly afraid, nor did the carrier that today delivered a Price Chopper sales flyer to the same box. Isn't it interesting that the only mail a carrier was afraid to deliver was the certified packages, child support & unemployment e-cards, and a tax return check? Although this is the 5th package that I have had to personally locate secondary to falsified documents, I am most interested in the last package for which I am waiting. It's the first package that I have had shipped with delivery confirmation required. Can't wait to see how they handle that!

Tell me your story...

Did you know that if you have dogs on your block that the U.S. Postal Service may refuse to deliver your mail, even if the dog is not yours, is locked in a house, is on a chain or is otherwise not a verifiable threat? According to the USPS website, the local postmaster is required to notify you prior to suspension of service, apparently unless you are in KCMO, where an entire block of Ewing Ave has been suspended WITHOUT NOTICE TO ANYBODY. I discovered this when I tracked a package that had been falsely documented as "delivered". Of course, the carrier isn't afraid to deliver junk mail...I always know what's on sale at Price Chopper. What I don't get is certified packages or mail with money in it. Yet after repeated complaints, all the way up to the OIG and the PRC, the situation continues. My concern is this: I'm not afraid to stand on my hind legs and bark at the system, so I physically tracked down MY child support, unemployment check, tax refund check and 4 of 6 missing, certified packages (each falsely documented as delivered or delivery attempted with only the post office address used) via documented USPS complaints. What about those people who, for whatever reason, don't feel free to protest or can't physically chase down the carrier? Who keeps their unclaimed mail? This is a federally regulated business in which documentation is required for regulation, and yet falsification of documents by federal employees doesn't raise any eyebrow but mine. Please send me any and all complaints, concerns or issues you personally have encountered with the Post Office. Thanks
